/compose music with your body movements
//story

For their Compound music festival, record label Monstercat asked us to work with one of their key sponsors, Splice, to build an interactive installation for their indoor exhibition space. We always love to give audience members a chance to be part of the performance aspect of a festival so we designed Starburst as a mini-dance space where people can control and layer tracks using their body movements.
Starburst is a cube made from a metal frame with LED lights at each of its top four corners. Each light controls a track that we chose from Splice's library. As people move their hands and bodies in the beams of light, they can control the bass, loops, synth and drums. The best part is that it's just as much fun to watch the people from outside the cube as it is for the people dancing and manipulating the tracks inside.
