/capturing the nostalgia of photography
//story

The process of photography is a lost art, as we snap anything and everything with handheld devices. The anticipation of striking the right pose, waiting for a photograph to develop, and enjoying the single moment in time is a feeling which reminds us of times gone by.
We were invited to create Boxcam, an intentionally interactive photography experience for Creative Mornings Vancouver. We designed and developed a custom camera with a mechanical shutter that could take photos. Connected to a TV screen, Boxcam had a knob on the side and once the picture ‘developed’, the image appeared on a reel that could be scrolled through manually on the television screen.
Taking 15 seconds to appear, and appearing in black and white, Boxcam added the anticipation and magic back to the photo taking process.
